This project analyzes and compares competing
approaches to human detection in video. Even though a number of papers have already been
written on the topics of skin and face detection this paper
will go beyond these analyses, culminating in an open source package aimed at
anyone working with image processing and object recognition. I provide a
comprehensive and up to date open source package containing implementations of the
algorithms based on the most recent research concerning human presence detection.
The package includes libraries for skin, face and eye detection which together can
be used for detecting human presence in video. The system is build so that it can be
applied to both real-time data with a lower detection rate and off-line processing with higher detection rate.
